FAQ

Is the hako bowl leak-proof?
Yes, they're leak-proof. If yours is not, feel free to send us a message (hello@hakoandco.com) we'd be happy to help & replace yours with a new one.
What is the difference between the Kubkao & Kubkang?
They are collapsible bowls with the same functions & features. The only difference is that Kubkao has 2 compartments while Kubkang has just one big compartment.
Why is it hard to close the bowl?

Tbh, it might be a little bit hard for your first or second tries. But simply follow these steps (it will work like a charm!):

1. Make sure you have the right side. Place the small side of the lid over the small side of the box. (skipped if yours is one compartment)
2. Lightly press the lid down the box all around the corners.
3. Make sure there is no overlapping.
4. Lock all 4 sides, and ready to go!

How can I get rid of all the smell and stains on the silicone part of the bowl?
We found that the easiest & most convenient way is to fill your Hakos with boiling hot water and microwave them for around 3 mins (medium heat). After that, wash them again with dishwashing liquid. This should lessen the stains.
Can I microwave/freeze/dishwash the bowl?
You definitely can! For microwaves, you can also leave the lid in the microwave but just remember to separate it from the silicone bowl first.
How about the oven?

The hako bowls are partly oven safe. Because they're made from 2 materials, plastic and silicone, thus they withstand different temperatures.

Plastic withstands 120°C

Silicone withstands 250°C

We strongly recommend you to take all the plastic components (lid and locking ring) out first before putting it in the oven. Otherwise, the plastic will melt;(

What happens if I break one of the parts?
Contact us! (hello@hakoandco.com) we'd be happy to help & replace yours with a new one.
So you ship internationally?
We do! Unfortunately, now, you can't order directly from this website so we beg you to send us an email with your postal code and we'll calculate all the shipping fees for you.
For Kubkao's (the 2 compartments), would liquid run to the other side?
Although they are leak-proof on the outer part, this doesn't apply on the inside of the box. Meaning that liquid can cross to the other side. However, this also depends on the type of the food. A more dilute type tends to cross to the other side easier.
What happens if my hako bowls are no longer usable? How can I recycle them?
(We urge you to) Send them back to us!:) We'll collect them and send them back to the manufacturer where they can recycle them properly and up-cycle them into other brand-new products! Feel free to email us for the address (hello@hakoandco.com).
